What Can Luxury Hair Extensions
Do For You?
Hair is our most worn accessory. We treat ourselves to luxury purses, shoes and jewelry but why not start investing in something that will change the way you feel about yourself? More than one outfit and more than one day. Hair extensions are a service that provides immediate confidence with every glance in the mirror, every encounter, everyday.

What's Offered?
Keratin Tips
Keratin tip extensions are individual extensions fused into the hair that can also be cut down into smaller individuals to further customize to your hair. This method is very versatile and low maintenance.
Nano Beads
Nano bead extensions are individual extensions secured into the hair with a silicone bead. This method allows for easy movements of the hair and evenly distributes the hair weight throughout the head.
Tape Ins
Tape in extensions offer maximum density evenly distributed throughout the hair. You can either sandwich two extension tabs together or can secure with a single sided tape for our finer haired clients.
Genius Wefts
Genius wefts offer maximum density provided on 1-3 silicone beaded rows. This method is a quick and efficient way of installing hair. The rows can either be single sided or an invisible method can be installed for a more seamless and hidden effect.
What can you expect?
Our artists are certified in multiple methods and your appointments will be customized entirely to you as determined by your stylist based off of your hair density, head shape, scalp elasticity, and desired end goals. We will hand select your custom blend from our hair extension line to give you the most undetectable extensions you have ever seen. Your hair secret is safe with us!
The first step is to book an extension consultation. At this appointment your stylist will color and texture match you to your hair, recommend the method, and give you an exact price quote for the cost of hair and the install service.
Your installation appointment is designed to help you protect your investment.

First time extension clients can expect to invest anywhere from $500-$2500 on your initial appointment and spend anywhere between 2-8 hours with your stylist depending on your starting point and desired end results. What does this mean for you at your appointment?

-
100% ethically sourced human Remy hair that has been custom colored to perfectly match your natural hair's color, texture and density.
-
A carefully placed foundation and installation in a manner that will be comfortable, flat, flexible, and most of all undetectable.
-
A blending haircut that will marry your natural hair into your extensions to seamlessly mimic your hair, but better!
-
A teaching experience from your stylist so that you are best prepared to enjoy your extensions out in the real world (but we promise, no one else will know unless you tell them!)
We treat your maintenance appointments just as important as your initial install.

At every maintenance appointment you can expect either a quick adjustment or a full refusion (removal and reinstall) depending on which installation method, a check in to ensure the past 4-8 weeks your extensions were comfortable and undetectable, color refresh when needed, a shampoo and scalp massage, followed by a finishing style and any products your artist may recommend for home care.
What kind of results can extensions offer you?

Meet the face behind RAE extensions

Illinois salon owner and educator
I'm Montana Schmidt, the face behind RAE extensions. I am a 31-year-old full-time hairstylist and salon owner with 14 years of experience in the industry. I am based out of a small town Danville in Illinois.
I established The Craft, 3 years ago, to provide a collaborative space for all creatives. I specialize in custom hair coloring and 4 methods of extension installations while behind the chair. I have a passion for offering my techniques to all my clients so they may feel their most confident and beautiful selves. My number one goal is to help you receive your dream hair.
I launched RAE extensions to provide our clients top of the line luxury hair that matches our signature custom color looks that we create behind the chair. Unlike most extension lines, I made sure that we would provide all 4 installation methods, a large variety of dimensional shades for both brunettes and blondes, high contrast tones, and triple multi color extensions so that we may eliminate the salon having to custom color your extensions (which also makes your extension color more low maintenance and budget friendly!). Having our own extension line also gives us the opportunity to order custom colored hair for you if any of our premade swatches do not perfectly match your hair for an upcharge of only $100!
Let's create your perfect natural extension look together. I can't wait to get to know you and help you achieve your goals!
AT HOME AFTERCARE
WASHING
(all products that we recommend can be purchased at The Craft or through our online affiliate storefronts)

-
Before you hop in the shower brush your hair completely to avoid locking in any matting or tangling with your recommend extension brush. (we recommend a classic wet brush)
-
When you shampoo we recommend doing so twice, once to remove impurities and product build up and the second to hydrate your scalp and hair. Your stylist will recommend what they feel is best for your home care out of our RandCo hair products.
-
Thoroughly cleanse in between your rows of extensions rinsing well in-between (this is important to avoid itchiness due to product buildup). You'll move your fingers in a zig zag pattern vs washing in a circular pattern. Work conditioner through your extensios and natural hair to ensure all hair is being properly treated and completely rinse from your scalp and ends. Avoid conditioning above the ears to avoid slipping at the installation area. We recommend shampooing 1-2 times a week.
-
Use a moisturizing detangling spray, oil, and/or leave in conditioner as recommended by your stylist after lightly towel drying your hair followed by a heat protectant.
BRUSHING

-
When brushing start at the bottom and work your way up, always supporting your extensions, especially your front corners of your genius wefts.
-
It is extremely important to brush your hair thoroughly in the morning and before bed at night to avoid matting as this can cause irreparable damage to your extension hair and potentially cause breakage in your natural hair. Unfortunately if extension hair is excessively matted it may need to be replaced at your next appointment.
-
Brush each row individually, check to make sure that there is no tangling at the very top of the installation area, especially during winter months when sweaters are coats worn.
-
If you notice excessive tangling and are not successful in detangling yourself please contact the salon so we can assist you to avoid any unnecessary damage that may occur to your scalp and/or hair.

DON'TS

-
Go to sleep on wet hair. (sleep with dry hair in a loose braid secured with a scrunchie or loose tie. silk or satin pillowcase is best.)
-
Use sunscreen containing avobenzone. (zinc based sunscreens only!)
-
Heat styling above 320 degrees.
-
Leave hair in a ponytail or the bun of doom for multiple days. Always take your hair down and thoroughly brush and reapply serum before putting it back up.
-
Go swimming without any preparations. (always get the hair wet before and apply a hair mask to the extensions, not the install area, and secure in a loose braid and wear up. It's always best and recommended to just plan on not getting your extensions in chlorinated or salt water. Securing dry and up while keeping the hair out of the pool/ocean is best.)
-
Ghost your move up appointment. (It is very important to the health of your hair and scalp that you come in for your scheduled maintenance appointments or schedule a removal if you need to take a break.)
